S2 E13 Val Kelly “God you have never failed us in the past and you will not fail us in the future.”

This episode was recorded before we understood what the coronavirus was. Before school closings. Before social distancing. Way before Pope Francis’s Urbi et Orbi blessing and message.

We share this information because of the surprising relevance this episode carries, right down to the Gospel passage on which Pope Francis reflected last week. We hope you are encouraged, inspired, and lifted up by the hand of our God over this conversation.

Val Kelly is a daughter of God, wife, and mom, as well as a co-founding team member of You, Me and NFP. Her quote comes from her husband, Brendan. It’s a prayer he has often prayed when the couple needs to rely on God and trust in the faithfulness of Christ.

“God you have never failed us in the past and you will not fail us in the future.”

Val also calls on Mark 4:35-41:

“On that day, as evening drew on, he said to them, ‘Let us cross to the other side.’ Leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat just as he was. And other boats were with him. A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up. Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion. They woke him and said to him, ‘Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?’ He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ The wind ceased and there was great calm. Then he asked them, ‘Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?’ They were filled with great awe and said to one another, ‘Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?’”
